One District, One Playbook: Longview ISD's Multi-Hazard Safety Plan.

In September 2025, Longview ISD trustees unanimously approved the district's Multi-Hazard Emergency Operations Plan for the 2025-26 school year.

The plan includes emergency-response mapping, coordination with county law enforcement, and expanded funding for school safety. It also works alongside physical improvements such as fencing, secured door packages, and upgraded public-address systems.

Consistency Across Campuses

The most important part of the plan may be its consistency. Students, teachers, administrators, and emergency responders are better prepared when every campus follows the same procedures and understands how information will be communicated.

District leaders also described the plan as something that will be revised as risks, requirements, and local conditions change.

A Model for the Region

Longview ISD's approach provides a useful model for schools, businesses, and community organizations throughout East Texas. Resilience is not simply a written plan stored on a shelf. It is a shared system supported by training, communication, and facilities designed to protect the people inside them.
